ASHRM’s Annual Conference October 15-18

Verge Health will be recognized by the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) later this month for its efforts in advancing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) solutions in hospitals and health systems. As one of four finalists, Verge Health will be part of a panel discussion on success in ERM at ASHRM’s annual conference in Seattle.

Inge Garrison, chief nursing officer and vice president of client services for Verge Health, will participate on the panel, where she will focus on the ambitious ERM plan and schedule Verge Health client RWJBarnabas Health undertook after a 2016 merger. Garrison will discuss how the organization formed two goals: to implement Verge Health’s Patient and Employee Safety Application across the entire system and to achieve a mature GRCH (Governance Risk and Compliance for Healthcare) status within one year. She’ll also touch on the strategies Verge Health deployed to support their client’s success.

“After the merger of Barnabas and RWJ, the newly-combined organization saw a need for standardization and removal of siloed processes and technology to develop a cohesive, system-wide strategy for governance, risk and compliance,” Garrison shared. “This new system is very large: more than 32,000 employees, nine thousand physicians, a thousand residents and interns working to care for patients at 11 acute care hospitals and three children’s hospitals, as well as a behavioral health center. It was a heavy lift but Verge Health was incredibly pleased to help their system better care for their patients.”

ASHRM’s annual conference is scheduled for October 15-18 in Seattle. Garrison will three finalists during a breakout session on Tuesday October 17th, 10:30-11:30 PT, facilitated by Denise Shope, president elect of ASHRM.
