User Summit Airing To Err is Human, a Patient Safety Documentary Addressing Efforts to Stem the Third Leading Cause of Death in US

Charleston, SC August 23, 2018 — Verge Health, the industry’s leading governance, risk and compliance (GRC) healthcare company, will take on the third leading cause of death in the United States, as it elevates a national conversation among stakeholders at its annual VergeCon user summit in October.

The event, held Oct. 24-26, 2018 at Wild Dunes Resort in Charleston, SC, will air an advance screening of the documentary To Err is Human, directed by Mike Eisenberg, son of the late patient safety pioneer, Dr. John M. Eisenberg. The documentary details how the third leading cause of death in the United States is its own health care system and what is being done about it. Through interviews with healthcare leaders, footage of real-world efforts that lead to safer care, and one family’s compelling journey from tragedy to triumph, the film provides an in-depth look at healthcare’s fight against preventable harm. The documentary will be shown on October 24, followed by an industry panel discussion featuring individuals from The Center for Patient Safety, Premier Inc, Tidelands Health and Capital Health.

“There is no reason that healthcare can’t have the same level of high reliability as the nuclear power or airline industry, and there’s no reason hospitals and health systems can stop organizing around the audit and start organizing around the patient,” says Mark Crockett, M.D. chief executive officer for Verge Health. “VergeCon is our company’s effort to unite our 900 healthcare clients nationwide around the goal of getting to zero harm. Through meaningful conversations, best practice sharing, and expanded knowledge of the Converge platform, they come away with concrete steps to make improvements and incite change.”

VergeCon is an impactful three-day event which includes training, product announcements, panel discussions, best practice sharing and updates from industry experts. The focus of VergeCon is bringing together like-minded driven individuals with similar healthcare goals and inspiring each other to keep driving towards high reliability after the summit with new knowledge and energy.
